We really were in luck with a clear blue sky and sunny day for a recent Cooper River Room AV rentals and event lighting job just over the bridge in Mt. Pleasant, SC. With a panoramic view of the Ashley River as it leads south to meet the Cooper River on the tip of the Charleston Peninsula, the Cooper River Room commands one of the finest views of the Low Country’s tidal basin of all of Charleston’s event venues. Often a favorite for picture-perfect weddings and parties, the Cooper River Room is also a meeting and conference venue. Easily accessible from Patriots Point hotels and by car from downtown Charleston, the Cooper River Room is quickly becoming a favorite of event planners in both the celebration and business markets.
AV Connections was called on to provide Cooper River Room AV rentals and event lighting for a recent investor-partners meeting of the Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau. We are pleased to serve this organization which assists most of Charleston’s businesses in one function or another with it’s various sales, support, and marketing arms. The CVB has been a strategic partner to Charleston’s business community and government in creating a city the world loves to visit for dozens of reasons. Certainly, the CVB partnership has helped to drive the four-year running Number One City in the World to Visit ranking as voted on by Conde Nast readers.
Generally, about 250 guest partners are expected for each of the CVB monthly meetings, over the past year AV Connections has provided audiovisual rentals for most of the CVB event venues. The Cooper River is one of our favorites, it was great to see it used for meetings. So often we are in this room or in a tent on the great lawn installing wedding lighting designs. This was really an opportunity to showcase the site for another purpose and keep us all mindful that the Cooper River Room is not just for weddings!

Once again, AV Connections, Inc. had the pleasure to serve a great client with conference AV rentals in Charleston at the Belmond Charleston Place Hotel. We love this magnificent hotel and enjoy working with Charleston’s Places’s world class staff. We had been here only two weeks prior for another national sales summit. We were happy to reprise our AV work with another great national sales meeting, this time for Farm Credit Services.
A wide variety of audiovisual rental equipment was deployed from AV Connections’s vast inventory for this national conference. We provided multiple 9×12″ projection surface screens, Shure UHF Lavalier Microphones, pipe and drape for the screens, standing podium, hand held microphones, multiple 32″ LCD HD flat screen monitors, Extron switchers, and Yamaha mixers among other items for the audiovisual presentation. To light these events, we provided Leko 4 source lighting fixtures, LED SlimPAR 64 decorative stage lighting among other rental lighting inventory items.
The conference meeting and breakout rooms were also individually set up and tech’d by AV Connections with audiovisual rentals and experienced members of our South Carolina and North Carolina conference technology teams. Presentations were held in the Grand Ballroom and breakout rooms throughout the conference.

The Farm Credit Council selected the venerable, beautiful, and centrally located Belmond Charleston Place for their 2015 meetings and conference, and selected AV Connections to provide the audiovisual rentals and technical team to support these events. We were pleased to send our event technology group, joined by other teams members from our North Carolina branch, to provide both flawless AV and knowledgeable and experienced audiovisual technicians. We were happy to set up, tech, and tear down their conference and always welcome the opportunity to provide clients with the same level of service in all future cities their conferences many travel to.

We are constantly honored to be the lighting rental Charleston SC vendor of choice for the historic preservation charities in Charleston, of which there are several. Charleston, SC is a town known for having saved itself from the brink of allowing the city to crumble into the peninsula. In the 1950’s a herculean historic effort commenced here in our fair city to save her historic structures. This effort has been so successful that Charleston, SC has become a model for cities around the world both in fundraising and in supporting schools and institutions which save our buildings.
One of the leading organizations and certainly the oldest is the notable Historic Foundation of Charleston. The Foundation supports seemingly endless and massive projects and undertakings throughout Charleston: Supports multiple historic homes, runs the archives, preservation projects, museums, and the Festival of Homes. Among the supporting donor groups for these efforts is the event you see above, Women of Impact. This is the second annual event of its kind, the first time Charleston SC’s Historic Rice Mill on the Ashley River downtown. Yes, you can.
One of the most frequently asked questions we answer is whether a conference or meeting planner is required to use the in-house AV department for their conference. The fact is, many times, you are not. A wise planner gets bids from outside AV firms which often offer more economical conference audio visual packages even with possible surcharges a hotel may assess to use an outside AV provider. It is important to do this leg work before signing the hotel or conference center contract.
AV Connections works with hundreds of hotels and conference sites around the nation. We regularly work with those where we are not the in-house provider, and the hotels and conference center certainly know how to handle this arrangement. For new planners, this is a little known method of significant AV cost savings for conference and meeting budgets.
